Square dance class and workshop information

FREE Introduction to Square Dance program on Sundays in August

If you have always wanted to learn how to square dance, here is your chance. The Farmers and Charmers Square Dance Club will be hosting a free Introduction to Square Dance program on Sundays in August (Aug. 6, 13, 20 and 27) from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Wilkinson Multipurpose Center in Northridge, California.

The Introduction to Square Dance program is an easy and very social activity which can help get you and your friends and family off the couch. In less than an hour, Dale Hoppers, our professional caller, will teach you the basics of modern square dancing and have you dancing to a variety of music. Members of the Farmers and Charmers, including recent graduates of the nine-month square dancing class, will be on hand to help.

There are eight dancers in one “square” and you will interact with everyone in your square. And the squares will change throughout the lesson, so you will be dancing with different people throughout the evening. You can come to one of the programs or all four. They will all be different.

Square Dancing is a non-smoking, non-alcoholic activity for ALL ages, meaning parents and grandparents can learn and dance with their children and grandchildren and have fun as a family.

Between the square-dancing tips, Dale Hoppers also will be teaching some line dancing. And there will be free refreshments.

The Wilkinson Multipurpose Center is at 8956 Vanalden Ave. in Northridge.

For more information, contact Terry Parks at 818-996-0974 or farmers-charmers@flash.net or find us on Facebook.

New square dance class begins Sept. 10

You've heard the term Dosado, but do you know how to dance one? And do you the difference between a Dosado and a Do Paso? Do you think a Scoot Back is something a dog does? Come join the Farmers & Charmers Square Dance Class and, in a few months, you not only will know those terms, but will be dancing them with others at dances.
The beginner class will be held on Sundays from 6:30 to 9 p.m., starting Sept. 10 at the Wilkinson Multipurpose Center in Northridge, California.
Dale Hoppers, our professional caller, will be teaching line dancing from 6:30 to 7 p.m. and square dancing from 7 to 9 p.m.
Each tip is about 10-15 minutes long with a five-minute break between and refreshments are provided.
A suggested donation of $6 per person, per class, is asked, with the first night free and discounts for families and students.
You do not need a dance partner as members of the Farmers and Charmers, including graduates who started last September's class, will be on hand to help.
For more information, contact Terry Parks at 818-996-0974 or farmers-charmers@flash.net or find us on Facebook.
